We all know how attached we can become to our dogs.  Mine are part of my family and are treated as such, so it is only natural that we find the best care we can for them.  I remember how long it took me to find a good hairdresser...now I just need to find the time to get my hair cut!
If you’ve never needed the services of a dog groomer before, do some research as we can all work differently and you may prefer some methods to others -
· Do you prefer to drop your dog off early morning and pick him up in the afternoon?
· Do you only want to leave him the length of time it takes to groom him?
· Does your dog socialise well with other dogs and likes being in the company of several dog?
· Would you prefer your dog to be on its own?
· Have you any preferences to cage/cabin and hand drying methods?
· Would you like to stay in the salon whilst he is being groomed?

You may be asked questions by the groomer -

· Has your dog had all its vaccinations?
· Does he keep in good health?  Let your groomer know of anything you are concerned about.
· If it’s not his first groom - does he like the bath/dryer?  Be honest as difficult/nervous pets require more attention and this can be accounted for when bookings are being taken.
· If he’s been groomed several times before and you are not happy with previous grooms, let the groomer know why, we all want you and your pet to be happy!
· How is his coat?  Is it matted?  Matted coats take longer to remove and extra time will need to be allocated.  Telling your groomer will make scheduled appointments run smoother - a great benefit to all!

Grooming should be a positive experience for your dog and not something that scares him. Providing quality health for your dog should be rewarding for both of you. A good groomer that you both like can make a huge difference in this part of your dog's health care.
